On the new site, Adam Curry, and getting Mugged
A lot has occurred in the past few months, in the wider world and to myself and my family. Both bad and good. Meanwhile, this site has been laying in wait for myself to get my act together, and bring the best I have from my old site, and some stuff that I never got round too before.
Well even though the design isn’t done yet, I’ve brought in the old content, and I’ve finally got round to a decent graphics section, which you can see here including my brushes with the famous, or at least the web famous, in particular my recent poster design for Adam Curry’s podcast, which I’ve written at length about here. Quite exciting to get my work mentioned on the Daily Source Code, a podcast with hundreds of thousands of listeners! Even if it was anonymous.
In between all that I was violently attacked, and I had my bag and wallet stolen, quite an experience, though the thieves were rather pathetic, thankfully for myself, and I got everything important back or replaced, including my passport, which I found neglected on the side of the road. Unfortunately though I didn’t get my limited edition Rodchenko bag back (see pic right) , so if you know any way I could get a replacement, feel free to get in touch.
Over the next few weeks I hope to get this site up and running proper, but for now, I’ve got a week to finish a tonne of uni work, and it has to be done. Argh.
A Brighter Day will Come
I do listen to Adam Curry who says that it doesn’t matter who anyone votes for in the U.S. election, because we’re all screwed anyway, but I’m certainly of the opinion that Obama is going to make the best of the two candidates. This vid is a great example of design and typography too so, enjoy:

What you need to know: China tricking Africa? (Dvorak)
![]() |
John C Dvorak has a great blog post about a how a new ‘win-win’ deal the Chinese have done with the Democratic Republic of Congo could cause untold problems for the country. The deal (originally reported by the BBC) is to swap the Congo’s resources (needed by China) for much needed infrastructure. The deal, however, has numerous loopholes, such as the fact that the Chinese don’t have to pay any taxes until they complete the building work, and as Dvorak says “Any bets that they get started on the mining before the 32 hospitals?”
For more, check out the must read article here and the original BBC article and report here, please decide for yourself.
Dvorak will be discussing it on his podcast with Adam Curry ‘No Agenda’ later today, you can download that from here or on iTunes here (both free).
Terrorist Nation: Everyone is a Terrorist
I started listening to Adam Curry’s Daily Source Code (deceptively techy sounding, but highly entertaining) and they played this segment out from a new advert going out soon on national and local radio around the UK… it makes for desturbing listening…
Download the MP3 here.
Scary, huh?
