INTO ORBIT

It’s not everyday you get your work featured in an advert for a major vehicle manufacturer, so I was pleasantly surprised to see the latest Purple 17 buses for Reading Buses featured in one such ad for Scania recently.

I designed the colourful and distinctive ‘orbit’ livery adorning the bus for Best Impressions and Reading Buses earlier in the year. The livery is intended as the successor to the well known swoosh adorning most of the current fleet, and ties the various different coloured buses together with one unifying multi-coloured device.

Reading is well known for spearheading innovative new bus technology, and Purple 17 runs on Scania’s cutting-edge gas-powered chassis, so naturally they wanted to show it off. I simply love the shot, and I’d like to think the livery helps sell it too!

THE CITY

Over the past two weeks I finally did what I’ve wanted to do for quite some time – explore and photograph some of London’s most iconic buildings – in particular, it’s skyscrapers.

I attempted to reach back in my mind to the times when I was learning about photography, and the casual mentions of photographers  who specialised in such things. Berenice Abbott was one such photographer, who took many photographs of New York in the early-mid 20th Century. It was her images of skyscrapers from the ground that came to mind when I approached the task of photographing these monoliths of capitalism.
